Freelance Designer {Portland, Oregon & Washington D.C.} March 2007 - current

  • Collaborate with a diverse client base, establish project objectives and work schedules, provide advice, guidance, and negotiate resolutions.
  • Conceive and develop original designs based on research concepts and graphic requests for both digital and print formats and audiences from varied backgrounds; direct, style, photograph, and post-produce photographic images.
  • Research, identify, and recommend new print vendors and materials cutting costs up to 25% last year.

    • Clients have included, but are not limited to, Whole Foods Market, Wiley Rein LLP, Anemone Design, American College of Cardiology, Food52 Inc., and International Association of Culinary Professionals.

  • Designed experiences and exhibits for a diverse, nationwide client base; projects included print materials, interactive components, visual impact of graphics material and visual presentations.
  • Produced, authored, and designed the Eating Is Art book covering typography, formatting, photography, and art production.

    Teaching Assistant, Pacific Northwest College of Art {Portland, Oregon} January 2008 - January 2009

  • Developed lesson plans and conducted semester review sessions with students.
  • Assisted in installing shows, wall text and decals in the school gallery.
  • Designed a week long series of sensory learning based events, printed materials, and cooking demonstrations integrating art, science, language arts, writing, geography, and history based upon the cultivation of food and the settlement in the ancient middle east.

  • Produced neighborhood design guidelines and site plans based on research and client need.
  • Rendered site plans via AutoCAD, by hand, and Adobe SketchUP.

  • Assisted with developing program initiatives within the Center for the inner city community.
  • Designed a book of student research, posters, and presentations for inner city revitalization.

    • Intern, P.I.C.C.E.D. – Pratt Institute Center of Community and Environmental Development {Brooklyn, New York} 2004

  • Participated in designing the Bronx River project that plans to remove a highway cutting through a residential neighborhood to extend the Bronx River Bike Trail.
  • Researched land uses and codes along the trail to ensure compatibility with the plan.

    • Intern, Sustainable Development Program {Crete, Greece} 2003

  • Created a sustainable development master plan addressing transportation issues, building codes, management land use zones, environmental concerns, and water/waste management.
  • Collaborated directly with the local government to better understand their needs; presented findings and proposals to the City Council.
